Professor Dr. Lim practises both in Penang, Malaysia and Melbourne, Australia. He is currently the only double specialist conferred with both the FACD and FRACP fellowships for Dermatology, Allergy and Immunology in Melbourne, Australia and in South-East Asia.
Professor Dr. Lim has a special interest in Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology/Aesthetic Medicine and Allergy having qualified and focused on these sub-specialty areas in his career.
Professor Dr. Lim started off his education in Malaysia before being awarded the prestigious ASEAN scholarship to study in Singapore at the Anglo-Chinese (Independent) School. From there he spent the next two decades in Australia, where he was awarded the Premier’s VCE Award for his outstanding academic achievements and undertook his MBBS at the University of Melbourne. After graduating, he spent more than 10 years in intensive multi-specialty training, completing 3 specialist qualifications in Australia and the UK. He was conferred fellowships from the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) as well as the Royal College of Physicans United Kingdom (FRCP edin). He has also been conferred membership of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia (Dermatology). He has practised in Asia, including Singapore, providing dermatological services to patients with pigmented skin. During his training, he was the National Representative for the Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology Committee for the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
Professor Dr. Lim is a Consultant Dermatologist and Consultant Allergist and Immunologist to the Dermatology and Allergy specialty units at Alfred Health, Melbourne. He also runs the Contact Dermatitis Clinic which he founded at Alfred Health. He has and continues to practise privately at dermatology, laser and cosmetic/aesthetic medical practices in Melbourne. He is also listed on the National Specialist Register of Malaysia as a recognised Specialist Dermatologist.
Professor Dr. Lim has an active interest in medical education and research. He remains at the cutting edge of Dermatology, Cosmetic/Aesthetic Dermatology and Dermato-Allergy skills, particularly given his dual specialisation. During his extensive career, he has published many papers in numerous international peer-reviewed journals including the Australian Journal of Dermatology, Internal Medicine Journal and Contact Dermatitis. He has lectured both locally and internationally to other specialists, general practitioners, medical students and allied health professionals contributing to the Victorian Medical Postgraduate Foundation, the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Adelaide and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Melbourne as well as other regional organisations like the Asian Dermatologic Laser and Surgery Study and Research Group. He is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Department of Internal Medicine, MD UKM-AUCMS Program.
